Duties
- Represent employers in labor and employment disputes, including wage and hour and discrimination cases.
- Manage class and representative actions in both state and federal courts.
- Provide legal counsel on employment law matters, including regulatory compliance, employee relations, and investigations.
- Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare case strategies.
- Advise clients on preventative measures to reduce litigation risks.
- Participate in discovery, depositions, mediations, and trials.
- Engage in client meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
- 4-8 years of experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on employer-side litigation.
- Experience in class action cases, including wage and hour disputes and discrimination claims.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including federal and state laws.
- Strong litigation experience, including managing cases from start to finish.
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy case load.
Education
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Active license to practice law in New York or eligibility to obtain licensure.
Skills
- Strong litigation skills, particularly in class actions and employment-related cases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience handling client relationships and providing strategic legal counsel.
