Senior Attorney – Securitization and Lending

North America Markets Legal is seeking an experienced structured finance and housing finance lawyer to provide legal counsel and support to businesses within Spread Products in the New York office. A primary responsibility of this role will be to provide legal coverage for Citi Community Capital, a business unit at Citi responsible for financing originating and investing in multifamily affordable housing, and community and economic development private equity and tax credit investment transactions, primarily for Community Reinvestment Act credit.

Applicants should have experience in structured finance and securitizations, multifamily affordable housing finance, economic development, asset management, bond financing, debt transactions and Community Reinvestment Act.

• Advising the businesses on relevant legal and market developments and Citi policies;
• Partnering with businesses in recommending, developing and executing business plans;
• Leading transactional negotiations; and
• Working closely with control function partners, internal review committees, and industry organizations.

• 7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services
• Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
• Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions
• Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
• Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Bar license in good standing to practice law

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree
