Join Davis Wright Tremaine LLP's thriving Employment Services practice as a mid to senior-level employment litigation associate in our New York office. We are seeking an exceptionally talented litigator with 5+ years of relevant substantive experience who shares our passion for employment law and our commitment to client service.
About the RoleAs a key member of our New York and national employment services team, you'll work on behalf of sophisticated private sector employers in state and federal courts, at arbitrations, and before administrative agencies. You'll play an integral role in managing complex and significant matters across a wide range of industries, providing exceptional service and strategic insight tailored to our clients' needs and business objectives.
YourCore Responsibilities Will Include
- Conducting fact investigations.
- Leading discovery efforts, including handling substantial ESI productions in high-stakes cases.
- Preparing witnesses and parties for depositions and conducting thorough deposition preparation, as well as taking and defending depositions.
- Drafting, opposing, and arguing dispositive motions and discovery-related motions.
- Effectively communicating and building relationships with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Contributing substantively to case strategy, collaborating on litigation decisions, and executing on agreed-upon plans.
We are looking for someone with top notch writing and oral advocacy skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and the ability to juggle a portfolio of active cases and matters with confidence, diligence, and efficiency.
What We're Looking For- Experience and Focus
- At least 5 years of experience as an employment litigation associate, specializing in management-side representation of private sector employers.
- A demonstrated desire to build a career in management-side employment litigation.
- Admission to practice in New York state and federal courts is required. Admission to practice in New Jersey and/or Connecticut is a plus.
- Technical Excellence
- Experience managing complex litigation processes, including discovery, depositions and motion practice.
- Comfort proposing and effectively executing litigation strategies.
- Professional Qualities
- First rate writing and research abilities.
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically, multitask effectively, work efficiently, and maintain a client-first mindset.
Ours is a collaborative work environment, and our attorneys spend three or more days per week physically present in our New York office. This expectation will apply to the candidate selected for this role.
