Logistics Coordinator

The Logistics Coordinator organises and monitors the movement of goods between suppliers, warehouses, distribution centres, and customers. This role helps ensure that shipments are arranged accurately, delivered within agreed timelines, and supported by complete documentation and clear communication.

The position works closely with Procurement, Sales, Customer Service, warehouse teams, carriers, freight forwarders, and external logistics providers. Responsibilities include booking transport, scheduling collections and deliveries, tracking shipments, preparing shipping documents, and updating logistics systems. The role investigates delays, coordinates delivery changes, resolves shipment discrepancies, and communicates progress to relevant stakeholders. It also checks transport invoices and maintains accurate records of shipment costs and service performance.

The role supports efficient logistics operations by reviewing delivery trends, identifying recurring issues, and recommending practical improvements. It coordinates returns, damaged-goods cases, and delivery exceptions while helping teams maintain visibility of stock movements. Through careful planning and timely follow-up, the Logistics Coordinator contributes to reliable fulfilment, effective cost control, and a consistent customer experience.

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in logistics coordination, shipping, transportation, distribution, warehouse administration, or a related operational role.
• Understanding of shipment booking, dispatch, delivery scheduling, tracking, and proof-of-delivery processes.
• Experience coordinating with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouses, suppliers, and customer-service teams.
• Ability to prepare and verify shipping documents, delivery notes, packing lists, and other relevant records.
• Familiarity with import-export documentation and customs-clearance coordination where international shipments are involved.
• Ability to monitor shipment progress, investigate delays, and arrange appropriate solutions for delivery exceptions.
• Experience maintaining accurate logistics records and updating shipment information in business systems.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP, transportation-management, warehouse-management, or shipment-tracking platforms.
• Ability to check freight invoices, identify cost discrepancies, and support transport-cost reporting.
• Understanding of inventory movements, order fulfilment, returns, and coordination between warehouse and transport activities.
• Experience monitoring delivery performance, lead times, carrier service levels, and recurring operational issues.
• Awareness of safe handling, packaging, transport requirements, and procedures relevant to the goods being moved.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and changing priorities.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, customer-service, and problem-solving skills, with reliability and sound operational judgement.
