Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations and Athletics Development (AVP, AR) with a dotted line to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation (AD), the Senior Director of Athletics Development / Senior Associate Director of Athletics plans, manages, and executes athletic fundraising activities supporting Fordham’s 22 intercollegiate and 14 club sports.
Essential Functions- Lead the strategic growth of philanthropic revenue for the Department of Athletics.
- Drive prospect management and portfolio maintenance for Athletics prospects.
- Ensure effective annual giving solicitation via multiple channels.
- Oversee production of gift proposals, solicitation letters, and related materials.
- Maintain relationships with Athletics leadership, coaches, trustees, and stakeholders.
- Attend Athletics senior staff and Alumni Relations meetings as directed.
- Collaborate with DAUR to plan and execute cultivation events tied to games.
- Represent Athletics at regional and reunion events.
- Lead donor cultivation opportunities during key sporting events.
- Partner with Planned Giving and DAUR colleagues on blended gifts.
- Ensure the team exceeds fundraising targets.
- Manage a portfolio of ~125 major gift prospects.
- Develop individualized engagement strategies targeting $100,000+ gifts.
Provide strategic leadership and supervise the Athletics Development team, including hiring, training, performance management, and compensation decisions.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of fundraising experience, preferably in Athletics, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Capital campaign experience.
- Track record of meeting fundraising goals.
- Experience securing six- and seven-figure commitments.
- Strong time‑management, communication, judgment, and problem‑solving skills.
- Diplomacy, discretion, and resiliency.
- Ability to foster collegiality and manage multiple projects.
- Track record of translating strategic ideas into measurable results.
- Familiarity with database and CRM tools (e.g., Ellucian CRM Advance, Web Focus).
Minimum Starting Salary: $160,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $180,000
Salary commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
