Job Description: The Global Director of Editorial Operations will project manage and lead all editorial operations for the GQ and Pitchfork editorial teams, ensuring various projects are executed strategically and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing editorial budgets, leading editorial teams, and executing multi‑platform content strategies in complex matrix environments. This role focuses on supporting all operational elements of the editorial team, including building optimal organizational structures, managing editorial budgets, ensuring deadlines are met, coordinating across cross‑functional teams, and navigating transformational change.
- Build, ope rationalise and execute editorial strategy with GQ and Pitchfork leaders; communicate strategy to all stakeholders.
- Partner with editorial leadership to develop clear planning across all platforms to deliver KPI and strategic goals.
- Oversee editorial project management: build workflows, conduct meetings, set timelines, and coordinate cross‑departmental distribution.
- Manage content and operational budgets for global GQ and Pitchfork; allocate resources, communicate targets, and collaborate with Finance and People teams.
- Build and manage content rights management processes; ensure teams secure and track rights, oversee contracts, and provide training.
- Support Global Editorial Director with global content strategy and management of the global content team.
- Act as primary editorial point of contact for revenue partners, develop monetisation opportunities and coordinate deliverables.
- Lead organisational change, oversee performance management, cascade policies; manage hiring, onboarding, and staff development.
- Shape, refine and iterate the global editorial structure by market.
- Maintain editorial brand guidelines and standards; ensure compliance with Company Code of Conduct.
- Leverage operational support for brand extensions and special projects; manage licensing opportunities.
- Track industry trends and recognise new growth opportunities.

Qualifications:
- 8–10+ years in senior editorial roles or leading editorial teams.
- Strong leadership with empathy, optimism and delivering results in fast‑paced environments.
- Experience mentoring large creative teams and coaching leaders.
- Excellent organization, time‑management and prioritization; handle multiple deadlines.
- Experience managing budgets and balancing editorial ambition.
- Deep understanding of GQ and Pitchfork brands; passion for fashion, menswear, music, criticism, culture, film, television, sports, and more.
The expected base salary range is $190,000–$230,000, with potential discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
