The CSC Center Coordinator manages and advances the operational, programmatic, and intellectual work of the Vagelos Computational Science Center (CSC). The CSC champions the understanding and use of computation across disciplines, lowering barriers to entry, and expanding technical skills and digital literacy for the Barnard community and beyond.

Day‑to‑day, the Coordinator keeps the Center running smoothly, organizes events and workshops, oversees student fellows, manages budgets and schedules, and leads the Center’s communications and outreach. With experience, the Coordinator will grow into a strategic partner and thought collaborator, contributing ideas and expertise to expand the Center’s reach and impact.

This is a full‑time, 35‑hour‑per‑week position that requires in‑person presence on the Barnard campus at least three days a week.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the Center’s day‑to‑day operations and logistics to ensure smooth functioning across all programs.
  • Oversee financial and hiring processes, including Workday and HR collaboration for hiring part‑time staff, contractors, and student workers, and processing invoices, purchase orders, and reimbursements.
  • Maintain organized systems for scheduling, correspondence, and information sharing; collect and manage data for reports and assessments.
  • Plan and execute CSC workshops, round tables, and special events from concept to completion.
  • Coordinate logistics for speakers, facilitators, and collaborators, including scheduling, travel, and event support.
  • Prioritize inquiries and requests, troubleshoot conflicts, and make informed recommendations to ensure seamless execution.
  • Oversee student fellows and assistants, ensuring alignment with event and program needs.
  • Lead Center communications and branding efforts, ensuring the CSC’s website, social media, and physical spaces are engaging, consistent, and up to date.
  • Coordinate publicity and outreach across the College, including social media campaigns, newsletters, flyers, and branded materials.
  • Maintain a strong, cohesive public image for the CSC that highlights its interdisciplinary, inclusive, and community‑oriented work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Directors.
Skills, Qualifications and Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritise multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excited to apply (or further develop) CSC‑oriented content knowledge and abilities to shape Center programming in service of our larger mission.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, students, staff members, and external partners at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Workday (or similar), Google Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency with content management systems and design platforms, and willingness to learn new skills; for example, we currently use Drupal and Canva.
  • Proactive style with a knack for problem‑solving and an enthusiasm for working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team.
  • Exceptional judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years of academic or nonprofit coordination and/or program management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Content knowledge of or familiarity with computational methods, ethical/responsible computing, or technology and society issues.
Salary Range

$65,000 – $70,000
