Maintenance Supervisor – Steinway & Sons
Join Steinway & Sons as a Maintenance Supervisor at our Astoria factory. You will be responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment, supervising staff, and supporting the production of the finest pianos in the world.
Responsibilities- Oversee upkeep and maintenance needs of the office and factory space.
- Oversee the industrial repair and assessment of production equipment, materials, and labor.
- Create and implement preventative maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment; designate work assignments to internal maintenance and external contractors; ensure jobs are completed to high standards.
- Proactively identify waste of resources and initiate actions to improve methods and reduce costs.
- Ensure health and safety policies are complied with, through thorough safety trainings and conducting site safety assessments.
- Monitor equipment and parts inventory; work with vendors to manage orders, pricing, and services.
- Ensure involvement of the Maintenance Department to support ongoing capital projects.
- Track expenses and oversee the budget for maintenance.
- Deliver strong operational performance by ensuring compliance with regulatory agency standards and programs; maintain a variety of manual and electronic files related to facilities inspections and compliance reporting.
- Assist in the selection of new hires and provide ongoing coaching, development, and discipline of current union maintenance staff.
- At least 5 years of managerial experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Able to analyze, plan, and solve problems.
- Ability to read prints and drawings; solid math and mechanical aptitude.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.
- Effective communication skills with diverse groups.
- Good working knowledge of OSHA regulations and practices.
- Experience and familiarity with building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic, fire safety).
- Required certificates of fitness from FDNY to maintain the plant.
- Maintain all permits to operate equipment and air permits with government agencies (DEP, DEC, EPA).
The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $80,000-$95,000. This role also offers relocation assistance if applicable.
