Position Summary
The Ops Supervisor assists the Ops Manager/Sr. Ops Manager with operations and personnel for a shift at a particular location. Supervisory duties may include Technicians-In‑Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees. The Ops Supervisor must accomplish results, ensure business objectives and labor requirements are met, and balance financial, operating, quality, safety, and asset targets against business requirements. This role is responsible for managing location performance against metrics, is cross‑functionally trained to back up others, and adheres to all Ryder Maintenance Operations policies and procedures.
This position may develop into an Ops Manager role, offering a path to promotion based on performance. The role offers a competitive salary, yearly bonus, and a full benefits package including 401k with employer match, PTO, and share discounts.
Essential Functions
- Workflow Management: Responsible for work analysis, planning, scheduling, assigning work to technicians, productivity tracking, shift and shop meetings, and RO review and approval. Ensures warranty policies and procedures are executed; manages triage of unscheduled customer drive‑ins; conducts yard checks.
- Labor Management: Provides management, training, and development of all personnel assigned; responsible for performance management.
- Customer Management: Handles customer relationships, issue resolution, satisfaction, retention, and vehicle uptime. Manages PM scheduling, breakdowns, vehicle status updates, and conducts customer visits.
- Asset Management: Directs direct reports in maintaining appearance and maintenance of assigned location; evaluates tooling and equipment needs; oversees vehicle specifications and in‑service/out‑service processes; manages parts inventory, policies, and procedures.
- Quality Management: Conducts quality inspections of PM & repairs, performs in‑process reviews of non‑PM work, analyzes root cause of breakdowns, implements corrective actions, ensures cleanliness and quality, and maintains documentation required by local, state, federal, and customer requirements. Ensures safety and EPA compliance.
- Financial Management: Ensures shift/shop delivers on Net Maintenance Cost per Unit objectives, controls budget and P&L, handles payroll, purchase orders, invoicing, fuel, bill‑back process, and data integrity in the shop management system.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills And Abilities
- Professional representation of Ryder and competent customer interaction.
- Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge (preferred).
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (preferred).
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree preferred or 1‑3 years/ more experience in a maintenance operations environment required; demonstration of success in a Ryder role may substitute.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or 1‑3 years/ more experience in a maintenance operations environment required; demonstration of success in a Ryder role may substitute.
- Maintenance and technical shop experience required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with a shop management system preferred.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (preferred).
Compensation Information
Pay Type:
Salaried
Minimum Pay Range: $72,500
Maximum Pay Range: $72,500
