Only individuals currently serving as permanent or probable permanent (probationary) Administrative Project Manager will be considered. The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health. DEP is the largest municipal water and wastewater utility. The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) operates facilities for sewage treatment across the five boroughs.
Under general direction, the selected candidate will serve as the Section Chief of Electrical Instrumentation Contracts in the Division of Facilities Maintenance Contracts.
Responsibilities
Supervise Engineers of various disciplines in preparing and managing requirement‑type expense contracts; assign work, ensure deadlines, and support new contracting methods.Respond to work requests by issuing contract work orders using OMO, expense, and other contracting means; direct Engineers and Assistant Engineers to notify stakeholders daily or semi‑weekly.Oversee emergency requests; assign an Engineer or Assistant Engineer within 24 hours and notify all parties until repair completion.Train Engineers and Assistant Engineers on specification preparation; keep updated lists of all projects and brief the Division Chief weekly.Manage staff overtime budget, ensure spending within guidelines, and submit cap waiver requests only when warranted.Compile codes and regulations applicable to contract work and monitor critical equipment performance to prevent failures.Demonstrate knowledge of EEO standards and support EEO procedures.Promote a safe workplace; ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety (EH&S) laws, rules, and DEP policies.Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field plus five years of experience, two of which in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity.A high school diploma plus nine years of experience, with at least two years in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity.Equivalent education or experience as described in 1 or 2, with one year credit for each 30 semester credits of college, a master's degree, a Juris Doctor, or a valid professional license; all candidates must have two years of administrative experience.Additional Information
