About GMHC

Founded as the world’s first HIV/AIDS service organization, GMHC remains a leader in the fight to end the AIDS epidemic while uplifting communities affected by HIV and related health disparities. We provide comprehensive services, advocacy, and education that empower people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. As GMHC expands its brand visibility and community reach, we are entering an ambitious phase of strategic growth—and we are seeking an exceptional fundraising leader to join our executive team.

The Role

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Development is responsible for leading and expanding GMHC’s fundraising operations to meet current and future organizational goals. Reporting to the CFO, the SVP will oversee a growing development team and serve as a key strategic partner in achieving a five-year revenue growth plan—from $7 million annually to $12–$15 million.

The SVP will lead a multi-channel fundraising strategy with a focus on special events, corporate partnerships, major gifts ($5,000+), planned giving, and foundation support. This is a highly visible leadership role that requires a blend of strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, donor engagement, and team management.

  • Ensure consistent, compelling donor communications that align with GMHC’s refreshed brand and community voice.

Major Gifts, Sponsor ships & Planned Giving

  • Oversee a growing planned giving program and ensure effective strategies for long-term legacy support.
  • Expand and deepen corporate and foundation partnerships, including event sponsor ships and programmatic grants.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise and support a dedicated development team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive work culture.
  • Partner with the CFO, Executive Team and Board of Directors to elevate fundraising capabilities across the organization.
  • Serve as a visible, engaged member of the executive leadership team.
