Project Manager - Level 1, 2 or 3 (Temporary to Permanent) - Revised and Reopened GENERAL DUTIES

Oversees one or more aspects of the planning, execution, and completion of the design and construction of capital building projects and specialized construction at a Campus or University setting. Manages projects for renovation and/or maintenance of existing facilities.

  • Develops quality standards and monitors performance

  • Incorporates University procedures and standards such as safety and CUNY design standards

  • Maintains compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and CUNY standards

  • Applies project management procedures and standards using appropriate methods and technologies

  • Communicates effectively with all project participants

  • Meets standards for performance (time, cost quality)

  • Enter, maintain, and access information in computer‑based systems, such as project management systems, work order systems, inventory and timekeeping systems, and financial systems of various kinds

  • Perform work indoors and outdoors under various environmental conditions, including extreme temperature conditions, climbing ladders and scaffolds, and working in close spaces as necessary to advance project(s)

  • Work may require driving to work locations

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Brooklyn College seeks a temporary to permanent Level 1, 2 or 3 Project Manager. Reporting to the Director of Facilities Planning, the Project Manager will play a key role in supporting and/or leading sustainability and Bond Act‑funded capital projects for the College. Depending on experience and classification level, the Project Manager may coordinate day‑to‑day activities, oversee project execution, or manage complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.

Level

1 - Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Arranges and participates in project meetings, activities and inspections and works with contractors and vendors and reports to management to ensure any important issues are addressed.

  • Functions as an Expediter, completes the required project documentation, obtains the proper licenses and certificates and assists in dealings with the NYC Department of Buildings, along with other agencies.

  • Enter, maintain, and access information on computer‑based systems, such as project management systems, work order, inventory and/or CUNYfirst.

  • Maintain and collect information on vendor activities, time spent, tasks performed and billing information.

  • Perform work throughout the campus, whether indoor or outdoor.

Level 2 - In addition to the duties at level 1, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining current knowledge with of technological and regulatory developments in environmental sustainability and facilities management.

  • Liaising with government/city and regulatory agencies to ensure projects meet compliance.

  • Point person to coordinate planning, design and construction with all sustainability consultants with campus stakeholders best practices to meet sustainability.

  • Collaborating with various departments to incorporate sustainability projects, waste management and operational policies.

  • Reviews the projects' schedules, compares them with the plans and reports all issues and findings to management.

Level 3 - In addition to the duties at level 1 and 2, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Manages design, planning, operations of NYS sustainable construction and energy practices.

  • Develops comprehensive sustainability programs that align with NY Governor mandates.

  • Works with campus stakeholders to develop project scopes which to meet sustainability requirements.

  • Manages, plans, coordinates and advises on complex capital projects, such as determining requirements, preparing design specifications, and analyzing documentation.

  • Develops and assigns projects' budget, scope, time taken and adjusts accordingly.

  • Negotiates project plans and executes change orders.

  • Participates in the consultant selection and contracting process.
