The Future Perfect Project is seeking an Executive Director to build, expand, and carry forward our national arts initiative to new heights.

About Our Organization

The Future Perfect Project (FPP) was founded in 2017 under fiscal sponsorship. As of 2022, FPP is a nationwide 501(c)(3), amplifying the voices of LGBTQ+ youth across the United States through high-quality creative programming and professional artistic mentorship (ages 13–22). By producing and facilitating in-person and remote programs in podcasting, music, creative writing, and more, we provide young people with queer‑affirming spaces and professional tools to express themselves authentically, connect with others, and share their vision of a better future for us all, one in which everyone is free to be themselves.

About

The Position

The Future Perfect Project (FPP) is a progressive, queer‑led, LGBTQ+ centered nonprofit dedicated to amplifying the voices of the next generation at the intersection of art, activism, and community. We encourage our staff and network to bring their authentic selves to the table, and we create spaces where creativity and truth‑telling flourish. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Executive Director to steward and evolve FPP’s role as a national leader in arts programming and youth‑first pedagogy.

This is a unique opportunity for a leader who is passionate about empowering queer youth and advancing cultural change through the arts and media. As Executive Director, you will provide public‑facing leadership and executive management within FPP’s model of shared leadership. You will serve as an anchor, collaborating closely with the Board of Directors, Youth Advisory Council, Director of Operations, and Artistic Director to set the vision, ensure financial sustainability, and strengthen infrastructure.

This requires balancing collective input and the diverse strengths of the entire team and with effective and strategic decision‑making.

The ideal candidate will bring both strategic rigor and heartfelt leadership, with the skills to balance organizational management and community engagement. This position requires not only experience in nonprofit leadership and administration, but also a deep commitment to FPP’s mission of uplifting and amplifying young LGBTQ+ voices. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A strong background in nonprofit leadership, arts administration, or organizational management
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, managing development strategy, and building long‑term donor and institutional relationships
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire teams within a collaborative culture grounded in authenticity and transparent communication, specifically embracing a model of shared leadership and distributed power
  • Familiarity with arts and media production, paired with a deep commitment to supporting and advocating for LGBTQ+ youth voices
  • The capacity to balance big‑picture vision with the demands of day‑to‑day operational excellence
