Location: Town of Florida
One (1) year to five (5) years experience in treatment plant operations including laboratory and maintenance duties.
Job DescriptionTechnical work in the operation and maintenance of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant. Work is performed under general supervision of the Water Plant Chief Operator.
Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm
This position is responsible for all compliance sampling conducted during the month, regular flushing of the distribution system for water quality maintenance, responding to water quality complaints, maintenance of well sites, accurate record keeping of field meters, and assistance with projects around the RO Plant. This position may be asked to cover shifts at the ROWTP as needed. This position is required to maintain all relevant sampling equipment including field probes, controllers, and vehicles.
PositionResponsibilities
- Performs work activities associated with a Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant. Ensures safe, efficient, and effective operation of plant facilities.
- Provides technical support and guidance for subordinates.
- Conducts frequent and periodic inspections of plant to detect malfunctions and initiates corrective actions.
- Maintains accurate and complete records on plant operation and laboratory data.
- Insures that the RO Water Treatment Plant complies with all aspects of the FDEP Operating permit.
- Participates in new worker orientation;
Provides technical support and guidance for subordinates. - Executes work and maintenance schedules, ensures that buildings, grounds and equipment are maintenance in proper condition.
- Performs routine laboratory tests and collects samples according to set test schedules.
- Ensures safe use of all chemicals and mechanical treatment related supplies.
- Reads and records daily plant parameters and equipment readings. Makes adjustments to the equipment based on guidelines set by the Chief Operator.
- Performs regularly scheduled “Stand-By Duty” which includes responding to after hours alarms and other emergency situations.
- Performs interior and exterior building maintenance, housekeeping chores and grounds maintenance tasks.
- Performs preventive and emergency maintenance on all electrical and mechanical plant systems. Assists Utilities Maintenance staff as needed in the performance of their duties at the Plant.
- May act as supervisor on an assigned shift.
Hourly Pay Rates;
Operator A $27.38, Operator B $25.80, Operator C $22.25
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Class “A”, “B” or "C" Operators Certificate (Water) as issued by the State of Florida.
