General Laborer (Fabrication)

• Moves and positions materials at work site with help of other workers and assists the crane operator.
• Helps lift and position work pieces.
• Files, grinds, or scrapes sharp edges, burrs, scales, or rust from work pieces; grinds welded joints, seams, and irregular areas to smooth surfaces.
• Compares work pieces with straightedge or template to verify conformance to specifications.
• Lifts, moves, clamps, and bolts dies and fixtures on machines.
• Operates sandblasting machine to clean tank surfaces prior to painting or coating.
• Sorts, marks, or tags finished work.
• Brushes or blows dirt from dies.
• Removes workpiece and scrap from machines.
• Cleans working area, machines, and work equipment after completing tasks.

Carry out other duties as necessary to perform function within state and federal regulations.

• Education – High School Diploma required. Preferred: 1+ year related experience with machinery.
• Language Skills – Ability to read and write routine correspondence; effective communication with staff.
• Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units, using whole numbers, fractions, decimals.
• Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, maintain confidentiality.
• Physical Demands – Ability to lift 25–50 pounds regularly; assist lifting 75–100 pounds with co‑workers or machinery; operate production equipment; work around sharp tools and sheet metal.
