SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

  • Welders primarily use TIG Welding to make various parts of Steel, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel. These parts range in size and are pre-cut from plates, bars, rods, and tubing. Occasionally we have assemblies that will require MIG Welding. Parts are prefabricated by others within our manufacturing group. The Welders receive primarily clean and burr free parts to weld. After welding they need to be square, straight, and to the print.

The welds are to be free of undercut, cold lap, and porosity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely use established Welding techniques and best practices to make parts to Engineering Specifications within the scheduled time allowed.
  • Weld using TIG primarily or MIG and other fabrication processes. Parts will be commonly stainless steel, mild steel, or aluminum. Welders will adhere to both Industry Standards and Schneider procedures to make parts to engineering drawing specifications.
  • Finish parts by wire brushing, grinding and blending grain as required and complete required documentation.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings to establish a clear understanding of what work is required to successfully make the part. Perform in-process checks to ensure the parts are conforming to the print.
  • Work with engineering to suggest improvements in drawings and designs
  • Monitor the quality of all components and frames leaving the welding area and make suggestions and changes to improve efficiency and quality in the welding area.
  • Train and develop less experienced Welders in the Schneider welding procedures
