The Calibration/Metrology Technician ensures manufacturing and laboratory instruments work according to specifications, repairs instruments, provides technical support to other departments (Maintenance, Packaging, Manufacturing, and Lab) and ensures good workmanship with minimal delay. If a calibration non‑conformance is found, the technician leads the tasks necessary for that impacted equipment to be further analyzed, adjusted or repaired as required.
Scope of the Role Major Duties / Responsibilities- Perform calibrations, verifications and technical support for laboratory equipment.
- Repair and troubleshoot instruments.
- Provide technical support to packaging, manufacturing and laboratory departments.
- Read and review SOPs.
- Assist laboratory chemists in diagnosing system malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
- Prioritize duties to avoid production delays for equipment breakdowns.
- Handle schedule and resource coordination when external vendor assistance is required.
- Decide when to place instruments in service or remove them from service; refer purchase decisions for approval.
- Associate degree or higher in mechanical, electrical/electronic engineering, or a relevant scientific/technical field.
- Experience in laboratory systems such as UPLC, HPLC, and GC.
- Preferred experience with manufacturing equipment including pressure gauges, chart recorders, rotating process equipment, batch controllers, temp/humidity controllers, HMI and PLC.
- Strict adherence to SOPs for testing and calibration.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of general technical work experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Computer literacy:
Excel, Word, Empower, Citrix, and troubleshooting or diagnostics skills.
$70,000 to $85000 per year.
