As a Machinist In Training with PCB Piezotronics, Inc., you will work from drawings and/or written instructions, sets up and operates manual or CNC machinery and equipment to produce precision parts that may require assistance from supervisor/ team leader.

• Assigned to one of the following functions, learns to perform duties specific to the equipment used:
  • Manual – use manual controls to run machines through required functions
  • Automatic – changes and chamfers bar stock, understands tooling controls and dimensions.
  • Fabrication
  • Finishing – ability to sharpen own tools.
  • Lapping – measure and verify dimensions specified, maintain lapping plate condition
  • Part Wash – Operate various part washing systems
  • Molding – Understands controls
• Training in the use of measuring instruments to inspect parts and may follow Quality Control (Q.C.) sampling plan depending on function.
• Training to use a microscope to view and inspect parts.
• Maintains and completes appropriate paperwork and makes data collection transactions as needed.

Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.

Must meet or exceed production requirements for job.

Learns to identify dull or worn inserts or tools as needed in assigned work center.

Understands order of operations.

Learns set ups and completes simple jobs. Learns to jog and cycle a machine through all functions.

Able to complete preventative maintenance tasks as required.

Will require assistance from lead persons or higher-level machinists.

Maintains neat and orderly work areas, understands the concepts of 5S.

Learns to make off sets and perform tool and insert changes.

• Education:
  
  High school graduate or GED or BOCES Machine Shop or Skilled trade school

• Basic shop math knowledge. Basic blueprint reading skills
