The toolroom supports high-speed presses (Bruderer or comparable), running sustained production speeds of 1,000+ strokes per minute, and works with thin-gage, high-performance alloys including Copper Beryllium (C172).
Responsibilities
- Tool Building, Bench Work & Die Troubleshooting
- Build, fit, and bench-test new progressive dies prior to production release.
- Perform hands-on die repair, rework, and troubleshooting at the bench to maintain uptime and reduce downtime.
- Diagnose root causes of die-related quality issues (part defects, wear, misfeeds) and implement corrective tooling changes.
- Build and maintain fine-pitch, tight-tolerance tooling for microstamping/miniature component production.
- Support First Article sample submissions to Quality for approval against customer drawings.
- High-Speed Press Setup & Optimization
- Set up, dial in, and run progressive dies on Bruderer high-speed presses (e.g., BSTA 30V2) or comparable equipment.
- Optimize die and press parameters to maintain quality at high speed, extend tool life, and reduce scrap.
- Apply best practices for tooling clearances, wear management, and surface finish when working with high-strength/high-performance alloys.
- Safety & Teamwork
- Follow all safety rules and processes and maintain strong situational awareness in a manufacturing/toolroom environment.
- Partner closely with the Tool Room Foreman and toolroom team to meet production and quality requirements.
Qualifications (Required)
- 1–3+ years of progressive die build experience in a precision metal stamping environment (more experience welcomed).
- Demonstrated ability to build dies that produce conforming parts at production volume.
- Proven troubleshooting experience resolving die performance issues on the production floor.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection.
- Familiarity with quality systems/standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Hands-on experience with Bruderer presses or comparable high-speed precision stamping equipment at 1,000+ SPM.
- Experience with precision microstamping and tight-tolerance progressive dies for miniature components.
- Experience with Copper Beryllium (C17200) and other spring/electrical-contact materials.
- EDM programming/operation experience (beneficial but not required).
- Formal tool & die training/certifications (helpful, but equivalent hands-on experience accepted).
- Salaries for people who have most or all of this experience and several years of experience are competitive offering higher pay.
