Location: New York, NY (Hybrid: 2-3 days in-office, flexible days)
Duration: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire (Potential for conversion after 12 months)
Pay Rate: $40.00 - $50.00/hr W2 (Strictly Direct W2 Only - No C2C or 1099)
POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking an exceptionally curious, proactive, and innovative Senior Communications Specialist to join an enterprise Financial Services Ratings Communications team on a 12-month contract-to-hire basis.
Reporting directly to the Head of Public Relations, this hands-on, high-impact role blends PR, Media Relations, Executive Communications, Marketing, and Internal Comms
. The ideal candidate is a strategic "dot connector"-someone smart, self-motivated, and collaborative who thrives on translating complex financial analysis, credit market research, and capital markets insights into compelling external narratives.
Public Relations & Media Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier financial, business, and trade media across the Americas and Europe.
Lead proactive PR campaigns elevating thought leadership, research, and corporate reputation; manage inbound media inquiries and rapid response.
Assess emerging issues, market developments, and reputational risks to provide timely communications counsel.
Executive Communications & Messaging:
Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, preparing talking points, speeches, media briefing docs, op-eds, Q&A, and conference presentations.
Coach and prep senior executives for media interviews, industry conferences, and client engagements.
Internal Communications & Strategic Advisory:
Serve as a single point of contact for business leaders on internal messaging, organizational announcements, and change communications, ensuring alignment between internal and external narratives.
Measurement & Innovation:
Track media performance, share-of-voice, and coverage impact. Leverage AI tools and modern communication platforms to streamline workflows and drive message resonance.
Experience: 8-12+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations, or integrated marketing communications.
Domain Expertise: Strong background in Financial Services, Credit Markets, Ratings, Capital Markets, or Banking is strongly preferred.
Media Network: Proven media relations background with established connections across financial and business media.
Core Strengths: Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills—ability to synthesize complex credit/financial topics into clear, engaging content.
Attributes: Proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity, executive presence, and the ability to connect dots across global, cross-functional teams.
Tech Capabilities: Practical exposure to or ability to navigate AI tools in the workplace for productivity and research.
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (Journalism, Communications, Finance, or related field).
Work Posture: Hybrid in New York, NY (2-3 days/week in office).
Employment Type: Direct W2 Contract-to-Hire Only (C2C and 1099 strictly prohibited).
