As a Vice President of Media Strategy on the Freedom card marketing team, you will lead the audience, channel, and media investment strategy that brings brand and product campaigns to market. You will also work closely with brand, acquisitions, campaign advertising, experiences, content, product, research, analytics, finance, control partners, media specialists, and agencies to create coordinated customer journeys and responsible business outcomes.

Job responsibilities
  • Define priority audiences and opportunities using customer, market, behavioral, and performance insights.

  • Translate brand, product, and campaign objectives into media objectives, channel roles, audience strategies, sequencing, and reach plans.

  • Develop annual and longer-term media strategies that balance brand building, product demand, acquisition, engagement, and portfolio priorities.

  • Create investment recommendations across campaigns, audiences, channels, and time periods, including where to increase, reduce, test, or redirect spend.

  • Partner with finance, sourcing, media specialists, and agencies on budgets, forecasts, scopes, pacing, governance, and investment transparency.

  • Partner with campaign advertising strategy to align audiences, channel roles, creative requirements, sequencing, launch readiness, and success measures.

  • Lead the development and assessment of integrated media plans and oversee activation, delivery, and in-market optimization through internal and external partners.

  • Establish media performance measures, testing priorities, measurement frameworks, and learning agendas with analytics and research partners.

  • Synthesize audience, media, creative, and business performance into clear insights and recommendations for senior leaders.

  • Build reusable audience, channel, investment, and optimization practices while evaluating emerging platforms, formats, data capabilities, and measurement approaches.

  • Ensure strategies, investments, deliverables, approvals, and partner activity meet applicable legal, risk, compliance, accessibility, privacy, and control requirements.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • 10 or more years of experience in media strategy, media investment, consumer marketing, strategic planning, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience developing integrated media strategies, audience approaches, channel plans, investment recommendations, and measurement frameworks.

  • Experience overseeing media agencies, platform partners, campaign activation, optimization, budgets, and performance reporting.

  • Strong business and marketing judgment, with the ability to connect media choices to customer and business outcomes.

  • Experience using customer, competitive, market, and performance insights to shape strategy and recommendations.

  • Ability to evaluate investment trade-offs and manage budgets, forecasts, pacing, dependencies, and risks with discipline.

  • Excellent strategic storytelling and executive communication skills, including the ability to simplify complexity and influence stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and external partners through ambiguity, competing priorities, and rigorous deadlines.

  • Strong collaboration, relationship management, and decision-making skills.

  • Knowledge of media measurement, testing, audience strategy, and full-funnel performance evaluation.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience in financial services, payments, credit cards, or another highly regulated consumer category.

  • Experience working for or with leading media agencies, publishers, platforms, analytics providers, or marketing technology partners.

  • Experience managing significant cross-channel media investments and full-funnel measurement.

  • Experience connecting paid media with owned channels, partnerships, and customer experiences.
