Leadership Gift Officer
The mission of the West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is to serve West Point and the Long Gray Line. WPAOG is both the alumni association and foundation for the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. West Point is renowned as the world’s preeminent leadership development institution, where approximately 1,000 cadets graduate each year and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.
Responsibilities- Serve as the lead front-line fundraiser on a 48-member Development Team for the Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area.
- Solicit leadership gifts (at least five-figures) from alumni and non-alumni friends within the assigned geographic region.
- Maintain relationships with 150 prospects and donors capable of annual gifts of $10,000 or higher.
- Manage all phases of the gift cycle—identifying, qualifying, evaluating, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.
- Collaborate closely with development team members, volunteer alumni leaders, and natural partners to advance cultivation and solicitation efforts.
- Advocate for the funding needs of the Academy and WPAOG, offering appropriate gift vehicles including planned giving when suitable.
- When appropriate, solicit Annual and Class Gifts from managed prospects.
- Travel extensively (40‑50% of time) to meet prospects and donors and be available for occasional weekend duty.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Three to five years of fundraising experience, with strong familiarity with USMA and the Army preferred.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Goal-oriented and comfortable in a competitive yet collegial environment.
- Proficiency with CRM software and related technology.
- Knowledge of capital giving programs and planned giving vehicles desired.
We offer an excellent benefits package and a pleasant working environment. Salary range for this role is $74,000 - $76,000, depending on skills and experience.
