Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation (HF) seeks a Director for Immigration Initiatives to provide strategic oversight and operational management of HF’s growing immigration initiatives portfolio. The Director is responsible for overseeing immigration program activities, supervising immigration program staff, managing overall department budget, and producing compliant program management and reporting in accordance with HF’s fiscal policies and federal, state and local regulations. The Director will work closely with internal departments, government agencies, funding partners, community‑based organizations, and program participants to ensure that impacted community members have access to essential resources and quality services.

The Director will guide and manage the immigration program team to administer initiatives, support immigrant‑serving nonprofit partners, and produce effective communications and accurate reports to both internal and external stakeholders. The Director works collaboratively with HF’s Director for Immigration Legal Services to monitor program deliverables and ensure expenses are tracked accordingly. The Director for Immigration Initiatives will also work collaboratively with members of HF’s policy team to bring forward immigration‑related advocacy priorities and HF’s development team to support fundraising and donor cultivation.

Job responsibilities
  • Oversee the design and implementation of HF’s immigration initiatives portfolio, supervise program team, and facilitate collaboration with immigration legal services team as well as internal compliance, development, finance and operations departments.
  • Create and manage all budgets under the immigration initiatives portfolio, manage contracting with public sector agencies, negotiate the terms of contracts with vendors and nonprofit partners, and serve as the lead on expense reporting and ensure compliance with established financial policies and procedures.
  • Supervise community event planning and execution, approve event plans and confirm all events meet HF’s standards for community‑facing programming.
  • Work with immigration initiatives team to manage relationships with sub‑grantee nonprofit partners, provide comprehensive initiative orientation and set clear deliverables as outlined by sub‑grantee contracts; oversee and audit communications by the immigration initiatives team with contract nonprofit partners and vendors for quality assurance.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to nonprofit partners, as needed; support sub‑grantee nonprofit partners through the contracting and vouchering process, monitor program progress, and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Manage intradepartmental communication to secure training and resources for nonprofit partners, work closely with capacity building, compliance, and finance departments to secure support for sub‑grantee nonprofit partner agencies as required and requested.
  • Maintain Immigration Initiatives files for completeness and correctness, regularly review program procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead in development of immigration policy priorities in conjunction with HF’s policy team, present emerging issues and research upcoming policy priorities providing insights gained from immigration initiatives and community engagement.
  • Support fundraising and donor cultivation, report on the state of programs and outcomes for development reporting and outreach, as needed.
