Description:

Provide essential, direct service and a critical lifeline to vulnerable women, particularly those impacted by incarceration, poverty, and systemic barriers. This role focuses on mitigating isolation and fostering connection by managing personal correspondence and distributing resources via snail mail to women inside jails and prisons. Your work ensures that those who are often forgotten remain seen, heard, and connected to the support and healing-centered resources of Imani's Safehouse, embodying our theme of "The Art of Resilience."

Responsibilities
  • Write, prepare, and send compassionate correspondence to individuals incarcerated in jails and prisons.
  • Manage the mailing of newsletters, resources, and other supportive materials to our service users inside.
  • Carefully respond to incoming letters, ensuring each woman feels heard and valued.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and a trauma-informed approach in all communications.
  • Track correspondence and mailing lists to ensure consistent and reliable connection.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to identify and address the specific needs expressed through letters.
What to Expect

You will be a vital point of human connection for women in extremely isolating circumstances. This role requires empathy, reliability, and a deep respect for the dignity and autonomy of every individual we serve. You will work closely with the Executive Director and receive guidance to ensure all communication aligns with our mission of breaking cycles of violence and trauma.

Commitment

Approximately 5–8 hours per month, dedicated to writing letters, managing mailings, and maintaining records. This is a remote role with a profound impact.
