Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster, is looking for a full-time Coalition Coordinator-TEAM Newburgh, in their Prevention Department.

This position pays $23.62/hour and is eligible for benefits.

Summary

The Coalition Coordinator (TEAM Newburgh) will be responsible for the general day-to-day activities and organization of the coalition. The Coordinator will be responsible for assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with project priorities. The Coordinator will guide the coalition in developing and implementing strategies that lead to long-term involvement of community institutions, organizations, and individuals in preventing underage cannabis use in the City of Newburgh’s economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

The Coalition Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring that the necessary state monthly reporting requirements, including the final report, are completed and submitted in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all coalition meetings, including full partner meetings, Leadership Council (coalition governing body) meetings, and, as needed, coalition sub-committee meetings. Create meeting agendas (with Leadership Council) and meeting minutes (with Coalition Secretary).
  • Work with the Leadership Council on addressing coalition concerns as they pertain to this project and maintain representation of the 12 community sectors to meet the goals and objectives of this initiative.
  • Act as the communication hub for the coalition and provide information to both the coalition and the community via email lists, social media content, including special media campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Represent TEAM Newburgh as the face of the coalition at national, state, regional, and local meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Ensure the planning and implementation of all environmental strategies for community-level change are completed as identified with community partners, stakeholders, and contracted entities.
  • Ensure all activities under the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF – assessment, capacity, planning, implementation, and evaluation) are culturally appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Council and the full coalition on the sustainability of outcomes and initiatives under the Special Populations initiative.
  • Fulfill state monthly reporting and all other requirements as set by NYS OASAS (funder) under the initiative.
  • Assist the Data Coordinator with the completion of the required needs assessment and provide assistance with data collection and analysis as needed.
  • Attend prevention training courses such as SPF, prevention ethics, and other pertinent training as required by funders/agency.
  • Assist the Education and Outreach Coordinator with school-based prevention programming as needed.
  • Other duties as requested to fulfill the goals and objectives under the Special Populations initiative.
  • Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. However, due to the nature of the position, night and weekend work will be expected and required. Schedule flexibility and reliable transportation are required.

    • Ability to lift 5-10 pounds.
    • Sitting, standing, walking, talking, bending, lifting, and stooping are required.

    • Enter and exit buildings to outdoor on a constant basis to gain entry to other buildings and to the public, during various types of weather.
    Qualifications

    Education and/or experience required:

    • An Associate’s Degree in a related field with two years of relevant experience with a diverse population.
    • Possession of or ability to quickly gain knowledge of the City of Newburgh.
    • Basic knowledge of various social media platforms.

    Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and sound knowledge of substance use is helpful but not required.
    • Ability to work with and motivate people of varied ages, educational and income levels and of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
    • Must have valid and clean NYS Driver's License and access to a reliable mode of transportation.
