Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster, is looking for a full-time Resource Exchange Driver/Pantry Aide in their Case Management program. The hourly rate for the position is $23.00/hour. This position comes with benefits.
Summary
The Resource Exchange Driver serves as part of the agency’s social safety net programs which help to improve the quality of life for individuals and families. This position will also serve as the primary liaison for the Food Bank of New York and CCOSU’s food pantries in Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan County. The driver is responsible for the planning and logistics coordination related to the pick-up and delivery of food to the three counties.
The driver will also assist with special projects in Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan County. The driver, in conjunction with the Case Management staff of each county will assist with the bi-annual Stuff the Bus partnership, Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Giveaway Event, the annual Christmas Adopt-a-Family and Giving Tree programs, as well as Back-to-School supply drives and drives organized by outside community partners, such as baby showers, winter coats, and food drives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manages all food-related activities. These activities include picking up of food bank orders, supermarket orders, and distribution of food to clients in our community.Organizes mass food-related distributions for Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan County locations.Coordinates all aspects of key Resource Exchange donation activities throughout the year. These programs are Stuff-the-Bus (June and November), Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway event (November) Adopt-A-Family and Giving Tree (Christmas), Back-to-School Supply drives (August).Ensure contact information of donors and particulars of donation are provided to Advancement Office for inclusion on donation log and necessary donor acknowledgement.Safely operate agency vehicle(s) to pick up and deliver food donations and supplies.Load and unload food products, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage or spoilage.Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, mileage, and fuel usage.Maintain agency van clean and sanitized.Collect and report required information on fueling and maintenance of vehicles.Maintains a clean and safe pantry environment.Assist in organizing, rotating, and stocking food items in the pantry when needed.Follow all food safety and handling procedures, including proper storage temperatures.Responsible for cleaning the pantry (i.e. clean refrigerators/freezers, clean milk crates, clean shelves, and sweep/mop pantry storage).Collaborate with the Food Pantry team to facilitate days of the Food Pantry on Tuesdays (Every other week in Kingston/Newburgh) and every Wednesdays in Monticello.Organize and sort new donations in the hygiene room.Collaborate with the Food Pantry team to facilitate days of the Food Pantry on Tuesdays (Every other week in Kingston/Newburgh) and every Wednesdays in Monticello.Assist with seasonal and special projects such as Turkey distribution and Christmas distribution.Check expiration dates on donated food items and dispose of any that have passed their shelf life.Documenting Room/Refrigerator/Freezer Temperature logs in all food pantries.Coordinating receiving and food orders from the Regional Food Bank (1,500–3,000 lbs. per order).Work with the County Supervisors to organize a pickup plan of food or other donations.Breaking down boxes and taking out garbage to the dumpster.Communicate effectively with donors, volunteers, and staff during pickups and deliveries.Inspect vehicles before and after use and report on maintenance needs promptly.Support pantry staff and volunteers in preparing food distributions.Responsible for two weekends in Ulster/Orange in November and two weekends in Ulster/Orange in June for Stuff the Bus.Attend staff meetings/training and other meetings as required.Manage stock rotation, processing, and distribution through a “First In – First Out” inventory management procedure.Responsible for the removal/disposal of any recalled or spoiled items.
