About the Department The Strategy, Planning and Analytics Department works collaboratively with each department across the organization to support strategy formulation, growth plan execution, and project implementation. The team provides the organization with in-depth analytical support in evaluating existing operations and new business opportunities. They help lead and advise cross‑functional project teams in executing the many action items and special projects that have been designed to help NYRR continue to reach its strategic objectives.
About the Position The Community Program Project Management Specialist will report to the Director of Project Management with the core responsibility of supporting the project management function for all critical initiatives related to NYRR’s community‑based programs. This role will support community‑based program leaders in managing cross‑functional teams to execute the action items and special projects that have been designed to help NYRR continue to reach its strategic objectives.
Job Responsibilities- Plan, execute, and monitor NYRR’s community‑based projects and initiatives to maximize program impact
- Ensure projects align with community strategy and needs and with organizational goals
- Lead cross‑functional teams to ensure projects are successfully executed and stay within scope
- Manage project budgets and resources
- Develop and track project timelines with key milestones and risks
- Project manage new community‑based initiatives, including the planning and execution of any new youth and/or community programs
- Support Director, Project Management in leading cross‑functional teams for planning and execution of annual organization‑wide initiatives and special projects related to our community and youth programs
- Partner with Director, Project Management to instill PM best practices at NYRR by further developing project templates, documentation, contingency planning, and training materials
- Build upon current cross‑functional collaboration practices with the goal of fostering increased communication and teamwork across the organization
- Partner with other NYRR teams to identify process improvements and develop recommendations for improvement; foster embrace of organization‑wide change management and role model associated best practices
- Assist with facilitation of innovative brainstorming sessions
- Assist with the execution of yearly strategy sessions and recaps for youth and community‑based programs
- 3+ years of project management experience in the community and/or youth program space
- Strategy experience a plus
- Solid experience with change management and process improvement projects
- Knowledge and understanding of community programming, New York City public schools, and/or youth running landscape
- Bachelor’s degree required
- PMP certification a plus
