APPLICATION LINKJOB DESCRIPTIONRyder for New York is looking for an experienced and highly organized Field Director to elect Ryder Kessler to the State Assembly in Manhattan’s 66th Assembly District (Greenwich Village, the West Village, the Meatpacking District, Soho, Noho, Tribeca, and part of the East Village, Union Square, and Chelsea).
Reporting to the Campaign Manager, the FD will be responsible for developing and executing the field strategy. This position is full-time, in-person, and will conclude at the end of June.
The Role:
- Manage Field Team:
Hire, train, and manage a team of Field Organizers and Fellows. - Develop Field and GOTV Strategy:
Create a Field and GOTV Plan including voter contact targets, event ideas, and volunteer recruitment metrics. - Volunteer Recruitment:
Recruit and manage a robust volunteer team, including developing a Campaign Fellows program with college and high school volunteers - DVC Leadership:
Lead petitioning shifts, canvass launches, phone banks, visibility events, and canvasser trainings. - Data Management:
Own accurate and timely data collection in VAN and other campaign software. Track progress towards meeting voter contact goals. - Community Presence:
Engage deeply with the community by building relationships with neighborhood leaders, community groups, elected officials, and activists.
- Experienced Staffer: 2+ cycles of campaign field experience, with a proven ability to manage staff, meet goals, and adapt quickly to changing campaign dynamics.
- Results-Oriented and Organized:
You are motivated to exceed expectations and dedicated to the grassroots work needed for victory on Election Day. You have a sharp eye for detail, understanding that clean data and record-keeping are essential. - Proficient with Tech:
Skilled with VAN, Google Suite, Mobilize, and Reach. - Hard Working and Flexible:
You thrive in the fast-paced environment of a campaign, pivot quickly when plans change, and actively seek feedback. You understand no task is too small and are willing to work weekends and evenings throughout the campaign. - Other:
This role requires reliable access to a phone and computer. Familiarity with the politics of Lower Manhattan.
The salary for this position is $5,000-$5,500 per month, commensurate with experience.
