Care about human rights, humanitarian aid, equality, or helping people affected by conflict and poverty?
Turn that passion into work you can actually do every day.
Public Outreach is hiring passionate, outgoing people to join our NYC fundraising team and represent leading nonprofit organizations working to protect human rights, respond to humanitarian emergencies, fight poverty and inequality, and support children and families facing crisis.
No fundraising experience is required.
We're looking for people who care about what's happening in the world, enjoy connecting with others, and want their work to contribute to something meaningful.
WHAT YOU'LL DOThis is face-to-face fundraising.
You'll work with a team throughout NYC, speaking directly with members of the public about important humanitarian and human-rights campaigns.
You'll:
- Start conversations with people from all walks of life
- Talk about human rights, humanitarian crises, poverty, inequality, and social justice
- Share how nonprofit organizations are responding
- Turn complicated issues into clear, human conversations
- Inspire people to take action by becoming monthly donors
- Work toward individual and team fundraising goals
- Receive regular coaching and support from experienced leaders
This isn't petitioning or volunteer work.
You'll be asking people directly to financially support nonprofit organizations through monthly donations.
THE ISSUES YOU MAY WORK ONDepending on your campaign, your conversations may involve:
- Children and families affected by war and displacement
- Humanitarian emergencies and disaster relief
- Hunger, poverty, and access to basic necessities
- Refugees and displaced communities
- Women's rights and economic opportunity
- Human and civil rights
- Racial justice and equality
- LGBTQ+ rights
- Reproductive freedom
- Communities facing inequality and injustice
Campaign assignments can change over time, but the mission remains similar: helping nonprofit organizations build the public support they need to create meaningful change.
YOU DON'T NEED TO BE AN EXPERTYou don't need a nonprofit background or a degree in international relations.
We'll train you on the campaign you're representing and teach you how to fundraise.
We're looking for people who are curious enough to learn, passionate enough to care, and confident enough to start a conversation.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Pay attention to what's happening in the world
- Care about human rights, humanitarian issues, or social justice
- Enjoy meeting and talking with new people
- Can communicate serious issues with empathy
- Can stay motivated after hearing "no"
- Are open to feedback and coaching
- Want work that feels connected to something bigger
This work can be incredibly rewarding. It can also be challenging.
You'll approach people you don't know, start conversations, and ask them to become donors.
Some people will stop and listen.
Some won't.
You'll hear "no" regularly.
We'll give you paid training, ongoing coaching, and a supportive team, but you'll need resilience and a willingness to keep improving.
Your hourly pay is guaranteed. Your performance still matters.
