Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (GCMC) is seeking a compassionate & skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide exceptional care in our Telemetry unit at our hospital in Cortland, NY. This is a full-time night shift position, working three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including every other weekend.

Our telemetry, medical/surgical floor accommodates up to 24 patients, with flexibility up to 30 depending on census. We focus on providing comprehensive, patient-centered care using a team nursing model that encourages high scope of practice and teamwork. During the day, each team manages up to 8 patients; at night, up to 9 patients.

Position Summary: Assist physicians with duties supporting patient care within the scope of LPN licensure.

Qualifications: LPN license in NY; 1-year healthcare experience preferred but not required.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare patients for exams, record vital signs, and obtain medical histories.
  • Assist with medication administration and record keeping.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments.
  • Support departmental operations and perform clerical duties.
  • Maintain exam rooms, order supplies, and ensure cleanliness.
  • Administer prescribed injections and medications.
  • Assist with surgical procedures and maintain sterile fields.
  • Follow infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
  • Perform dressing changes and suture removal.
  • Monitor for signs of infection and report findings.
  • Other Duties: Attend mandatory training, adhere to dress code, participate in meetings, and contribute to team goals.

    Hourly rate ranges from $26.25 to $38.50, depending on experience.
