The Mother Baby Registered Nurse provides comprehensive postpartum and newborn care through true couplet care supporting both mother and infant during the recovery period following childbirth. This role requires strong clinical skills in postpartum care newborn assessment and magnesium sulfate management. Nurses must also be comfortable floating to related units such as Antepartum. This is a 36-hour/week position working night shifts (7:00 PM 7:30 AM) with every other weekend required.

• Provide full couplet care to postpartum mothers and newborns ensuring safe recovery and early parent infant bonding.
• Perform newborn assessments vital signs feeding support and safety protocols in the nursery and patient rooms.
• Monitor mothers who are receiving Magnesium Sulfate therapy-experience required.
• Support breastfeeding and parental education on infant care safety and postpartum recovery.
• Identify and respond to complications in both newborns and mothers using sound clinical judgment.
• Document assessments interventions and teaching using EPIC EMR (highly preferred).
• Float to Antepartum Unit as required during the contract.
• Contribute to a unit with an average census of 17.4 patients and 23 beds.
• Work collaboratively with physicians lactation consultants and interdisciplinary care teams.

• Minimum 2 years postpartum and antepartum experience Required
• True couplet care experience Required
• Nursery/newborn experience Required
• Magnesium Sulfate experience Must be listed on resume
• Minimum 2 years overall RN experience
• EPIC EMR experience highly preferred
• Ability to float to Antepartum
• Comfortable handling newborns and providing parent education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

Active New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse License Required
