Overview
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will have solid experience in recovering post-operative and intubated patients, administering medicated drips, and managing critical transitions from the operating room to recovery. This role is essential to ensuring patients receive safe, high-quality care during the immediate postoperative period in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Hours Per Week: 40.00
Hours Per Day: 8.00
Days Per Week: 5.00
Shift Time: NIGHTS: 4
Ppm - 12am/7.5hrs/ 5 Days per week

Experience in recovering intubated patients post-surgery.

- Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from surgical or invasive procedures.
- Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, level of consciousness, airway, and pain management needs.
- Manage intubated patients and provide airway support as required.
- Administer IV fluids, medications, and medicated drips per physician orders.
- Accurately document patient assessments and interventions using EPIC EMR.
- Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families on post-surgical expectations, pain control, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies.
- Active NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License – in good standing.
- BLS and ACLS certifications – required.
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including postoperative management and medicated drip experience.
- Experience recovering intubated patients post-surgery – required.
- EPIC EMR experience – highly preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Associate degree considered only if actively enrolled in a BSN program.
