Location: New York
Position: RN (Emergency Department) (F/T) (FH) at Northwell Health
Base pay range: $61.00/hr – $80.00/hr
Responsibilities- Perform an age‑specific plan of care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with physicians and other health team members in coordinating and implementing procedures and treatments.
- Use leadership skills and clinical judgment to coordinate patient care and direct/delegate activities of the patient care unit team.
- Assess patients’ physiologic and psychosocial health status, including:
- Conduct patient interviews and explain policies, procedures, and care plans.
- Evaluate gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neurological, and pain status.
- Determine mobility, sensory deficits, use of prostheses, and skin condition to adjust care plans.
- Identify coping mechanisms, knowledge levels, and cultural/ethnic requirements to reduce anxiety.
- Identify patient outcomes by establishing measurement criteria, defining problems, and setting individualized goals.
- Formulate and prioritize the plan of care to achieve expected outcomes, coordinating cost‑effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication.
- Implement the plan of care by maintaining vigilance over patient safety, administering prescribed treatments, providing emotional support, and documenting interventions accurately.
- Evaluate care effectiveness, analyze outcome data for performance improvement, and document results.
- Collaborate with care team members, delegate assignments, and ensure timely completion of patient care activities.
- Perform Grade I–IV decubitus care, including preventive skin care and dressing procedures.
- Administer medications safely, prepare solutions and IV drips, and educate patients about drug interactions.
- Participate in patient and family education, documenting teaching effectiveness and planning for early discharge.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred). Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment if hired after September 1, 2010 and obtain a BSN within five years.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- BCLS and ACLS certifications preferred.
