Job Overview

Sun River Health is currently seeking a part time Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Dover, NY.

A Nurse Practitioner, under the direction of a physician, is responsible for planning, evaluating and delivering the health care of patients on assigned service. Emphasizes preventative health measures and education of patients.

She/he will perform other duties as assigned and in compliance with systems and job specific standards.

Hourly salary: $74.46 – $78.07 / hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and does patient education and counseling.
  • Orders appropriate lab work, draws blood for lab work if needed, and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.
  • Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses, and consults with physician regarding medication, chronic illness and referrals when appropriate.
  • Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically. Does follow‑up of abnormal pap smears and reportable STD’s.
  • Attends case conferences involving patients.
  • Attends continuing education programs to increase skills and knowledge.
  • Attends provider meetings and participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments.
  • Identifies and categorizes each patient’s age‑specific grouping of needs, such as those infants, adolescent, or geriatric patients.
  • Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by department, organization, and overseen by Infection Control Officer.
  • Provides safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards.
Minimum Requirements

Education:

Master’s Degree.

Work Experience:

5‑8 years; 4 years of business office experience, preferably in a large medical practice with increasing levels of responsibility.

Preferred Experience:

8+ years.

Licensure:
Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State and CPR/BLS.

Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that nurse practitioners are trained to do and are necessary for practicing in health care centers.
  • Competence in delivery of health care to patients (including preventative health education).
  • Ability to collaborate with other members of the Health Center in order to maintain high quality standards and achieve client satisfaction.
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written) is preferred.
