Position: Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (NY HELPS) - 90206
Location: Montrose

Overview

Duties Description The Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 will supervise, direct, review and coordinate the work activities of assigned nursing and direct care staff. They will be responsible for preparing and monitoring staffing schedules and develop daily staffing plans for nursing care. They will also ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements.

The Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 is responsible for admissions on their assigned units and review all new admissions documentation within the prescribed time frames. They are required to review all new admission baseline care plans within 24 hours and update comprehensive care plans with changes as necessary. Ensures residents  consults, appointments and escorts arrangements are in place. Also, ensures labs, diagnostic studies follow up and documentation are done.

They will complete all quarterly assessments, attend all care plan meetings for their assigned units, and will complete residents  MDS interviews. Responsible for communicating all changes on medications and residents’ condition to family members and attending all family/residents related meetings. Will be attending morning meetings with the IDT and will collaborate with assigned unit supervisors on all three shifts. Will perform matrix completion and update, provide guidance and training to all unit staff as needed, and educate residents and families.

They will also contribute to staff evaluations and counseling.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Transfer:
Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 20 or above, and that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Registered Nurse Supervisor 1.

NY HELPS:
Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. *

  • Substitution: bachelor’s degree in nursing can substitute for 1 year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.

Promotion Provisional/NCP:
Current NYS Department of Health employee with two years of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Registered Nurse 1 (formerly Nurse 2, Grade 16), Registered Nurse 2 (Geriatric) (formerly Nurse 3 (Geriatric), Grade 20), or Registered Nurse 3 (Infection Control) (formerly Infection Control Nurse, Grade 19).

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with geriatric population

Additional Information

The posted salary range ($132,178 - $143,230) includes the job rate for PS&T Salary Grade 22 and statutory hiring rate at step 4, plus an additional geographic pay differential of $35,000 and downstate adjustment of $4,000.
