The University at Buffalo School of Nursing ( SON ) invites applicants to apply for a full-time (12 month) clinical position in the DNP Certified Nurse Midwifery ( CNM ) program
. Working collaboratively with the Midwifery Program Director, fellow core faculty, clinical liaisons, clinical preceptors, and School of Nursing leadership, the faculty member supports high-quality education, student achievement of midwifery competencies, and compliance with applicable Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education ( ACME ) criteria.
Responsibilities include:
- Classroom and online didactic teaching.
- Mentor, supervise, and evaluate students in clinical and simulated learning environments.
- Assist during admissions process with student application review and orientation.
- Participate in systematic evaluation of the midwifery program, including curriculum effectiveness, student outcomes, clinical sites, preceptors, and educational resources.
- Collaborate in the identification, selection, evaluation, and ongoing approval of clinical sites that provide appropriate learning experiences across the scope of midwifery practice. Perform clinical practicum site visits to evaluate student’s clinical progress and facilitate and maintain relationships with preceptors.
- Maintain documentation of teaching, assessment, clinical oversight, and improvement activities needed for program review and accreditation.
- Assist with preparation of accreditation reports, exhibits, monitoring submissions, and site visits.
- Participate in faculty meetings, relevant committees, and community partnerships that support the program’s mission and continued development.
- Facilitates and ensures safe, quality, interdisciplinary, evidence-based patient-centered care that is culturally sensitive, competent, ethical, and compassionate throughout students practical, classroom, online, simulated learning experiences and IPE courses.
- Maintain an active record of extracurricular activities and encourage student participation with faculty when possible.
- Contribute to new midwifery and nursing knowledge through scholarship activities and student mentoring.
- Provides service through participation in School of Nursing and University wide committees, and faculty governance as well as active membership in professional local, national, and international organizations.
- Maintain clinical midwifery expertise and certification.

Minimum Qualifications- PhD or DNP degree from a regionally accredited School of Nursing, or actively enrolled in such program.
- Maintain current American Midwifery Certification Board certification as a Certified Nurse-Midwife.
- Current New York State Midwifery license.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience practicing as a CNM .
- Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills with ability to work as a multidisciplinary healthcare team member.
- Maintain clinical practice in specialty areas.
- Previous experience teaching at the DNP level.
