BHMC - Director, Nursing, Behavioral Health

Reports to the Senior Vice President, Patient Care Services/CNO. Responsible for identifying, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing standards of practice and operational quality improvement activities, including all Human Resource and Educational activities.

• - Critical thinking, math, and computer skills (Excel & Word)
• - Effective application of TQM teams, quality measures, clinical guidelines, and process management initiatives
• - Knowledge of NYSDOH, JCAHO, and other regulatory requirements
• - Competence in producing trend and evaluation data and documentation
• - Familiarity with quality improvement philosophy models, processes, and tools
• - Leadership and administrative skills
• - Excellent oral and written communication skills
• - Decision-making and problem-solving abilities
• - Physical ability to work in a demanding, high-stress environment
• - Ability to flex working hours
• - Current NY State RN License
• - BLS certification
• - ACLS certification
• - TRUST certification

• - Doctorate degree

• - Master’s Degree in nursing or related field
• OR
• - Minimum ten (10) years of relevant administrative/supervisory experience

• - Physically demanding environment with occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
• - Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
• - Manual and finger dexterity
• - Hand and eye coordination
• - Sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time
• - Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 35 pounds
• - Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
• - Frequently sitting at a desk working on a computer
