Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our esteemed team at Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic
. As a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, you will support animal patients and their owners, ensuring comfort, cleanliness, and well-being, and assist veterinary staff to facilitate the smooth operation of the hospital.
Pay range
: $18.00/hr - $23.00/hr
- Animal Care and Support:
Provide compassionate care to animals in the kennel, attend to physical and emotional needs, assist with walking, feeding, and administering medications as directed by veterinary staff, observe for distress or illness, and report concerns promptly. - Cleaning and Sanitation:
Maintain a clean, sanitary kennel environment by cleaning and disinfecting cages, runs, and common areas; launder and sanitize bedding and towels; properly dispose of waste. - Animal Handling and Restraint:
Safely handle animals and follow restraint protocols; assist veterinary staff during procedures and examinations. - Client Interaction and Communication:
Interact professionally with pet owners, provide updates on pets’ well-being, and assist with check-in/check-out procedures. - Facility Maintenance and Organization:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and public spaces; assist with inventory and supply storage organization.
- Genuine passion for animals and commitment to their welfare.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, team members, and veterinarians.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and protocols.
- Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication.
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care role is a plus.
