Veterinary, Animal / Pet Care
We are a busy Mixed Animal Practice on the North Fork of Long Island, a rural area with farms and wineries surrounded by water for various water sports. We have been in practice since 1994 and have a family-oriented staff, including 6 doctors who are great at mentoring, a large animal veterinarian, and a full staff of 7 licensed veterinary technicians.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in patient histories, physical exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, surgical procedures, and medical management. They will also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship DetailsExternship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students are encouraged to participate in NVA externships. Eligible students in the clinical portion of their education can receive a travel/living expense stipend of $1,000.
