Carnegie Hill Veterinarians is looking for an Experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team in New York City. We’re looking for someone with a strong general practice background who is confident with technical skills, comfortable in a fast-paced hospital environment, and ready to jump in and support our doctors, technicians, patients, and clients.

Our support team plays an essential role in keeping patient care moving throughout the hospital. You’ll have the opportunity to use your experience across appointments, treatments, diagnostics, and surgical support while working closely with our doctors and licensed veterinary technicians.

We’re looking for someone who can bring a solid foundation of veterinary experience to the team, communicate well, and become a dependable part of the hospital.

What You’ll Do

As an Experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant, you’ll provide hands-on support throughout the hospital while working alongside our doctors and LVTs.

Depending on your experience and applicable scope of practice, responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting doctors and LVTs during appointments and examinations
  • Assisting with treatments and patient nursing care
  • Venipuncture and blood sample collection
  • IV catheter placement
  • Preparing patients and equipment for procedures
  • Assisting with surgical and anesthesia-related patient care
  • Supporting patients throughout recovery
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory samples
  • Assisting with diagnostic imaging
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and well-prepared treatment and patient-care areas
  • Communicating with pet parents and fellow team members
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Working collaboratively with the team to keep patient care moving efficiently throughout the day

Experience with dentistry is a plus, but it is not required.

  • Strong hands-on technical and patient-care skills
  • Confidence with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and treatments
  • Experience supporting surgical and anesthesia cases

  • A dependable, proactive approach to supporting the hospital

Benefits & Compensation

Compensation: $25–$29/hour, based on experience and skill set

Schedule: We are primarily looking for a full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant who can provide weekday coverage. The exact schedule can be discussed during the interview process based on hospital needs and candidate availability.
