Location: New York
The Pesticide Control Specialist enforces state and federal pesticide laws and regulations for the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. Duties include investigating pesticide violations, inspecting pesticide businesses and applicators, conducting compliance reviews of agricultural operations, and managing pesticide certification training. The position is based in Long Island City, Queens and requires travel to remote areas and potential after-hours emergency response.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, biology, chemistry, environmental science, entomology, or related field
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet transportation needs using state vehicles
- Certified private or commercial pesticide applicator (required for some levels)
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in adverse weather and remote terrain
- OSHA training and HAZWOPER certification required
