BioMedical Technician
Location: Village of Cooperstown
What you’ll do
The Bio Medical Technician I monitors and participates in the preventive maintenance, electrical safety and equipment repair programs for basic and/or specialty medical equipment. Maintains preventive maintenance records on all equipment included in the program. Coordinates service of equipment with outside vendors as required. Maintains efficient department operation while requiring compliance with all JACHO, Federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.
May help in projects as assigned and may assist in the day-to-day operation of the clinical engineering department.
- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect risk level 2 or lower, and selected level 1 medical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, and document equipment performance.
- Maintain a high quality of work completed on equipment, with expedient response.
- Respond to work requests, changes, and tasks associated with the FMP.
- Assist senior biomedical engineering technicians with repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance of medical equipment and systems.
- Maintain biomedical equipment supplies inventory; anticipate needs; manage orders.
- Perform other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Vocational / Technical trade school and/or equivalent work/military experience in electronics, electrical/biomedical engineering or related field, preferred
- 2 year / Associate Degree in electronics technology or equivalent, preferred
- Minimum one year experience with mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and repair (preferably with medical electronics), preferred
- NYS Driver's License, required

- Medium Work – Exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly to move objects. Occasional balancing, climbing, typing/clerical/dexterity.
- Frequent crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.
- Constant fir testing.
- Occasional bodily fluids/blood borne exposure, burns, chemical, radiation/radiant energy
- Constant electrical, mechanical
- Occasional noise, vibration, dust, fumes, gases, odors
- Occasional Travel – The job may require travel from time‑to‑time, but not on a regular basis.

Pay Range MinimumUSD $23.78/Hr.
