Arts & Science is seeking a talented Laboratory Assistant (Receiving) to join the Department of Biology. This individual will deliver and/or distribute supplies and equipment to laboratories, following appropriate safety protocol. Set up, take down, prepare, monitor, and store supplies and equipment, as necessary. Provide assistance with maintenance of equipment and/or request repairs, as necessary. Receive, unload, unpack, inspect, and inventory supply and equipment deliveries, including hazardous, radioactive, infectious, and other scientific materials.
Reinforce and adhere to safety and safeguarding protocols and maintain cleanliness of laboratories and work spaces.
Deliver and distribute supplies and equipment to laboratory sites, ensuring compliance with safety and security procedures. Prepare, set up, and take down laboratory supplies and equipment, and maintain inventory records. Assist with equipment maintenance and repair requests. Inspect and inventory deliveries of hazardous, radioactive, and infectious materials. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Required Education- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in a shipping/receiving or stockroom area
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and online tracking systems
- Ability to physically move and lift heavy items safely
- Familiarity or ability to become familiar with scientific and safety standards, and hazardous materials handling protocol through training
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $34.615. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
