Safety Coordinator

Job Description

The Base Safety Coordinator (BSC) is responsible for managing and supporting the Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and federal, state, and local regulations. This role partners closely with the General Manager, Regional Vice President, and Safety leadership to promote a proactive, risk based safety culture. The Base Safety Coordinator supports safety programs, training, audits, quality control processes, and continuous improvement initiatives while balancing operational responsibilities as part of the base team.

Compliance, Audits & Quality Control

• Monitor and support the Internal Audit Program (IAP), including reviewing audits, findings, and required reporting
• Prepare for and participate in third party audits; track findings and ensure timely closure of corrective actions
• Maintain working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
• Monitor quality control (QC) standards, track performance, and maintain accurate records
• Champion compliance with all company and industry safety, quality, and operational standards

Safety Programs & Training

• Assist in implementing safety initiatives, programs, and continuous improvement efforts
• Coordinate and lead Monthly Safety Committee meetings, including review of safety objectives, SPIs, and key metrics
• Support administration of training programs, including computer based and on the job training (OJT)
• Track new hire progression and support recurrent training requirements for all employees

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in ramp operations and aircraft servicing
• Ability to handle confidential information and exercise sound judgment
• Valid state driver’s license
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
