Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to verify occupancy and comment on the general condition of the property via a mobile application.

• Complete most inspections within 5–6 minutes.
• Submit the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property and add brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Drive an extended amount of time with frequent stops while covering your assigned territory.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You are paid per inspection but can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on the county and its urban or rural status, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, while higher volume counties have lower rates. The workload is consistent month‑to‑month.

You can earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
