Research Scholar (Potsdam, NY)
Position Summary:
The core objective of this position is to set up and conduct controlled laboratory experiments utilizing 2D Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Tomographic PIV (Tomo-PIV) techniques to capture the dynamics of microplastics in aquatic environments. The dominant mechanisms and rates of in-stream microplastics dynamics, including settling velocity, retention, and transport, will be resolved utilizing complex fluid hydrodynamics. Additionally, a theoretical and mathematical model will be developed to create novel process‑based models for microplastics transport and decay in riverine environments.
- Ph.D. in civil/environmental engineering or relevant field.
