Job DescriptionA postdoctoral position is available for scientists interested in deciphering the biology of membrane proteins and ion channel physiology in the Furukawa lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) in New York, USA. To achieve our research goals, we employ a combined approach that incorporates cryo‑EM, crystallography, electrophysiology, imaging, protein engineering, and molecular dynamics simulations. We also have numerous collaborative projects in cancer‑neuroimmunology.
CSHL features state‑of‑the‑art equipment, including a Titan‑Krios 300 kV electron microscope, crystallography tools, and an excellent facility for phage and yeast display, proteomics, and light microscopy. The Furukawa lab has a solid track record of preparing postdoctoral researchers for assistant professorships in academia and equivalent roles in industry.
- Ph.D. in structural biology (crystallography, cryo‑EM, cryo‑ET), molecular neuroscience/electrophysiology, membrane protein biochemistry/biophysics, or immunology. Expected within ~0.5 yr.
- Prior experience in one or more of the above areas is desirable.
Preferred attributes include experience with patch‑clamp electrophysiology, imaging, and molecular dynamics simulations.
Applicants should send a CV with a brief research statement and two to three references. Please email Hiro Furukawa at [email placeholder]. Starting salary $74,300 ~. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received.
