Position Summary

Through the use of advanced induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) techniques our lab attempts to elucidate the effects of genetic variants associated with psychiatric disorders on the development and physiology of neural cells. The iPSC lines we use are derived from patients or isogenic lines in which we induced disease-associated variants using CRISPR-Cas
9. The iPSC-based models we have in the lab range from 2D cultures containing only a single cell type to 3D cortical brain organoids. Genomic and Transcriptome data have been generated from these organoid models as well as postmortem brain samples and basic characterization has been established. This position will focus on the further development of various, machine learning and deep learning models to study molecular mechanisms and cellular phenotypes caused by the etiology of high risk genetic factors of schizophrenia.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and fine tuning five SOTA machine learning and deep learning perturbation fine tuning models.
  • Build a standard benchmark pipeline to evaluate the accuracy of deep learning algorithms.
  • Apply deep learning models to analyze large-scale molecular and cellular datasets related to high risk model of schizophrenia generated in our labs.
  • Optimize our high throughput cellular phenotyping pipelines. Collaborate with experimental biologists to process the experimental data on daily base and refine hypotheses about disease mechanisms.
  • Integrate multimodal data (e.g., transcriptomic, proteomic, epigenetic, cellular phenotypes) to uncover patterns and relationships between genetic risk factors and cellular phenotypes.
  • Help on manuscripts preparation, results preparation for grant application.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus 1.5 years of related experience.
