The Lappalainen & Sanjana Labs at the New York Genome Center (NYGC) are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a dynamic team of scientists, computational biologists, bioengineers, and human geneticists. The successful candidate will be mentored by Drs. Tuuli Lappalainen and Neville Sanjana, working at the intersection of statistical genetics, functional genomics, and technological development, with potential affiliation with New York University.

About

The Labs

The Sanjana lab focuses on genomics and bioengineering, developing new technologies to understand and manipulate biological systems, with projects including genome editing, high-throughput screening, and neural studies.

The Lappalainen lab studies functional genetic variation in human populations, analyzing how genetic variants influence molecular and cellular traits and contribute to disease risk through computational and experimental approaches.

Position Overview

This role involves understanding how human genetic variation impacts gene expression and phenotypes at multiple biological levels. It combines computational and wet-lab work, with projects involving CRISPR, single-cell multi-omics, GWAS, eQTL data, and novel datasets like Developmental GTEx. The candidate will help extend STING-seq technology and develop new genome editing methods.

Qualifications

PhD or MD-PhD with experience in molecular biology, statistical genetics, biochemistry, computational biology, or functional genomics. Salary & Benefits

Salary: $88,000/year (including $70,000 base + $18,000 housing allowance). Benefits include health coverage, paid leave, 401(k), life insurance, tuition reimbursement, flexible schedules, and telework options.
