The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Senior Technician will be responsible for carrying out fully planned experiments to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease in mouse models.
ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Technician will:
- Use conventional biochemical, molecular, cellular, immunohistochemical, and behavioral assays to perform experimental work either independently or in collaboration with postdoctoral research scientists and graduate students.
- Maintenance of mouse colonies, behavioral monitoring of mice, genotyping, drug and gene delivery via IP/ICV injections.
- Dissection of mouse tissue, immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy.
- Mammalian tissue, transfection and lentivirus/AAV production.
- Responsible for managing lab inventory and ordering, preparing solutions, and performing other duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory.
- Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures for mouse colony handling and genotyping.
- Prior experience with neonatal mouse tissue dissection and immunohistochemical analysis of brain, spinal cord and muscle with cryostat and vibratome sectioning combined with confocal microscopy is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or neuroscience.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrated attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and ability to keep accurate records.
